Made In Alberta Awards NOMINEES

Thank you so much to Made in Alberta for adding my work into the nominees for the Amy Willier Award for Indigenous Artisans.

I submitted my Gwich'in Half Florals, a modern and contemporary style on Dene Athabaskan beadwork. My current research is in Teetl'it Gwich'in, Athabaskan beadwork styles, techniques, hide work and quillwork. These half florals show the resilience and beauty of our Dene culture while still honoring our ways. With each tacking down of the beads, waxing of thread, we create these timeless pieces to repair cultural ties, loss of community and rebuild our ways.

Made in Alberta celebrates Alberta made products and makers #supportlocal And the list for the indigenous makers is inspiring and incredible. Read up on all the nominees and you have till April 17th to vote for the Readers Choice award!
